A policy study conducted by Incheon National University (President Park Jong-tae) at the request of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Do Sung-hoon) "Customized School Support Plan for School Level and School Type Considering Incheon's Characteristics" was released to the local community and the education community through the final report. The study proposed specific policy alternatives by reflecting Incheon's unique characteristics, such as the difference in educational environment between new cities and old cities, and the increase of multicultural students, with the aim of narrowing the educational gap in Incheon and establishing a sustainable school support system.
This study analyzes Incheon's educational environment in-depth and deals with the following major tasks. First, it is to reduce teacher administration work. It was proposed to reduce the administrative burden and introduce a digital administration system so that teachers can focus on their original educational activities. Second, it is support for small and multicultural schools. The emphasis was on the allocation of professional manpower and the establishment of an integrated support system for small schools and schools with many multicultural students in the old downtown area. Third, it is to strengthen support for educational activities and events. A plan was proposed to reduce teacher work and improve the quality of educational programs by establishing a systematic support system.
"This study aims to contribute to creating an educational ecosystem that satisfies both teachers and students through customized school support reflecting regional specificity," said Chung Chae-kwan, a professor at Incheon National University who is in charge of the study.
This study is expected to contribute to improving the quality of education and easing the gap by accommodating the diverse needs and characteristics of schools in Incheon and strengthening cooperation with local communities. In particular, policy suggestions tailored to the special situation of multicultural students and small schools suggest the possibility of expansion across the country and show the possibility of becoming a representative model to solve the problem of educational gap between regions.
On the other hand, this study was conducted based on collecting opinions from the field and analyzing domestic and foreign cases, and through this, a realistic policy alternative was derived. Through the final report, the researchers presented a concrete roadmap for improving the educational environment in the Incheon area, and laid an important foundation for driving the future-oriented development of Incheon education. Detailed research contents and policy suggestions can be found through the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education.
