Professor Kim Hoon of the Department of Electronics Engineering at Incheon National University (President Park Jong-tae) was elected as vice chairman of The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers in 2025. The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers is a representative society in the domestic IT field, including six major societies, including telecommunications, computers, artificial intelligence signal processing, semiconductors, and industrial electronics, and biomedical research associations, and has more than 40,000 members in its 79th anniversary.

Professor Kim will serve as the vice chairman and oversee summer and autumn academic conferences, domestic and foreign papers (including academic journals and SCI-level journals). Professor Kim said, "We will faithfully play a pivotal role in improving the academic role of The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers of the AI convergence era, improving national industrial competitiveness, and exchanging researchers, and doing our best to serve as a bridge to actively reflect the voices of the research field in government policies."

Professor Kim is currently a professor of electronic engineering at Incheon National University after serving as a senior researcher at Samsung Electronics, a secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication, and a visiting researcher at Stanford University. He has been awarded the Outstanding Researcher Award and the Outstanding Lecture Award, and has contributed to academic activities and human resources training by serving as the head of the national project and the chairman of the organizing committee of domestic and international academic conferences. In recognition of this contribution, he also received a special award at the 16th ICT Papers Contest (December 2024) hosted by the electronic newspaper. In addition, he served as vice chairman of the Incheon Data-Based Administration Committee and researcher of the Incheon Techno Park Digital Data Division, and is currently carrying out various activities based on his expertise in AI and data convergence fields, including the International Electrical and Electronics Society (IEEE) AI Ethics Certification Senior Examiner and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Information and Communication Data Transaction.
